Raging transforms torment into surrender and creating real change

In 2026, I get to choose between torment and surrender.

Here is what I mean. You can use numerology to find your Tarot card of the year, and this then can be useful in understanding some of the overarching themes of your year.

You add together your birth date, birth month, and 2026.

For me this is 7+25+2026 = 2058. Now I add those 4 numbers: 2+0+5+8= 15.

To arrive at your card of the year, the number needs to be less than 21 because the major arcana of the tarot is numbered 0-21. So, you keep adding across until you arrive at a number less than 21.

But if your number is below 21 and still a double digit, you have a choice.

In 2026 my choice is that I can work with card 15, which is “torment” in the Vision Quest Tarot deck that I love. Or I can add 1+5 = 6, which is the “lovers” card with the keyword “surrender.”

Torment is actually my default, it is so, so easy for me to go to anxiety, fear, terror even. (I mean, really, how can we not be terrified these days?). But I’ve been working hard to change that for almost 10 years! Actually, I had changed it, but the 2024 presidential election brought me right back to the torment, to deeply struggling with my fearful patterns of mind.

In 2026 I so want to choose surrender over torment. To me, surrender means leaning into trust like leaning into a loving embrace. And, somewhat paradoxically, for me choosing surrender means choosing to rage.

Recently, I’ve been having to rage a lot, sometimes daily. It is what my spirit guides have prescribed as the best way to shift my energy when I am struggling with the hard and heavy emotions when I feel tormented.

My raging practice might look like pounding my fists on a stack of pillows while shouting, sometimes screaming, and then sobbing. Or I might full-body move to music with a strong beat while yelling about all the things that I’m angry or fearful about.

Okay, so right now you might be thinking, wait a minute, I thought I was only supposed to put positive vibes out into the world in order to feel good, attract good results, and create change in my life and in the world.

Well, that is only half of the truth.

The full truth is that when we try to only put out the positive vibes, we are just pushing our rage, fear, despair, grief, anger, all of our negative feelings, deep into our bodies.

And then we feel like failures when those hard and heavy feelings are what we wake up to in the morning, are what we try to suppress in our meditation or yoga or exercise routines, and are simmering below the surface all day long. I know; I’ve been there, done that.

The full truth is that we have to first feel and express our negative emotions in order to actually be able to feel good and emanate positivity. I call this practice of fully feeling and expressing our hard and heavy emotions raging.

The first thing you need to know is that we have to rage in ways that are safe for ourselves and others, like the couple of examples I gave before. And second, we have to know that our negative feelings will continue to resurface, and will need to be raged out over and over and over again.

When I rage, I always ask Mother Earth to take that negative energy into her, to transform it. Recently I received some more really helpful information about Mother Earth’s role in my raging practice from my spirit guides in a Shamanic Journey.

I grounded, centered, and shielded, then allowed a part of my Spirit to slip out of my body and travel up to the moon to meet with my circle of spirit guides. I was in my human female form, sitting cross legged at the center of this circle, and water was spouting out of the top of my head, out of my crown chakra, and then flowing down me, as though I was a sculptural water fountain.

I was shown that this water represented the negative emotions that I rage out, and I saw that the rage/water was flowing into and feeding the soil, the Earth, the physical form. I was shown that the physical reality that we want to create isn’t just fed by us emanating positive vibrations. Creating physical form is also fed by the emotions created in us by all that we see that is wrong with the world, all the injustice – this is what makes us want to change the world, capable of it even.

But not if we keep the negative emotions stuffed into our bodies only if we safely rage them out.

In my Shamanic journey, I saw that when I rage and ask Mother Earth to take that energy, I’m feeding Mother Earth. And when I feed Mother Earth with my rage, she transforms my negative energy and feeds positive energy back into me.

She feeds me the fuel I need for my fire of transformation. With my own transformed rage, Mother Earth feeds me surrender. She helps me lean into that loving embrace of Trust. Trust that I’m here for a reason, that I am held and loved and supported.

She feeds me the insights I need about how to move forward, the action steps to take towards my goals. She feeds my ability to hold and work towards my vision, my purpose, my way of making a difference in the world.

And this allows me to get to that place of putting out those positive vibrations that attract good things into my life and into the world. It translates into me creating the physical forms of what I want to have happen in the world, the changes that I want to see made manifest.

Raging allows me to – over and over and over again – choose surrender over torment.
