Dear Friends,
A year ago today, April 27, 2024, in a Shamanic Journey, I met the part of me I’ve come to call Unbreakable, Beautiful, Raging Betti.
In that journey, I grounded, centered, and shielded, then climbed my Tree of Life to the Moon, where I met my Circle of Spirit Guides. I asked to meet the part of myself that wants me to stay small.
This part of me showed up as a porcelain doll.
She said to me: “I am the one who wants you to stay small because that is what feels safe. I am the one with all the BIG feelings. I am the one who clings desperately to ‘too much to do, too little time’ so that you think you can’t succeed.”
Then she got rageful and was smashing everything in sight with her porcelain fists, shattering everything like it was all glass, but she did not break- she is Unbreakable.
She modelled for me that I need to allow myself to rage. I have a lifetime of suppressed rage held in my body and bones.
All the despair I felt for the Earth and Humanity from ages 7 to 37 was also anger and rage at the systems and powers that destroy all I hold dear. But because I did not allow myself to feel or express this rage, it turned into depression, despair, and anxiety instead.
For the past year I’ve been doing a “Raging Betti Practice”- expressing and releasing my rage safely- without harming myself or others, by punching a bolster and yelling, screaming even, whenever the hard, heavy, yucky emotions take over. I feel cleansed afterwards, the feelings subside for a time, and I’m able to continue putting one foot in front of the other.
